Overview

E Street is a key north/south corridor running through the heart of downtown Anchorage, providing a direct link between the Alaska Railroad depot at Ship Creek, the Delaney Park Strip, and everything in between.

Project goals were initially sketched out in 2003 by the Partnership Creek Plan prepared by the Alaska Railroad Corporation and other stakeholders. These goals have been slightly modified to capture changing conditions in downtown.

The current design is based on the following goals:

  • Link E St with the future Ship Creek Intermodal Center and Delaney Park
  • Provide an urban environment that supports year round activity
  • Integrate existing commercial activity, land use, and future downtown development
  • Promote economic development

This concept is now being carried forward in the desing and construction phase.

The enhancements will include amenities to make it a walkable, winter-friendly and unique environment.
