Destination Downtown Updates for May 15 - May 21

We hope to keep you informed about the downtown construction projects throughout the summer. We will use this list to give you up to the minute changes that might affect your traffic patterns or your business.

F Street between 6th & 7th Avenues

Expect a full road closure on F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave. for road, sidewalk and intersection improvements. All businesses will have access and alternate pedestrian detour routes will be provided. Please follow appropriate detour routes, via 6th Ave. to C St., and use caution.

G Street at 7th Avenue

Beginning Saturday, May 17th at 4:00am, the intersection of G St. and W. 7th Ave. will be closed for sidewalk improvements, traffic signalization, lighting, and paving work. The intersection will reopen for travel on Monday, May 19th at 6:00 AM.

The City Hall alley will maintain two-way access at G St. for traffic. Please follow appropriate detour routes, via 6th Ave, H St. and 8th Ave., and use caution.

Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center (Downtown)

Expect multiple sidewalk and road closures in the downtown area due to construction on the new Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center. The following roads will be effected:

* 7th Ave. between F St. & G St.

* 8th Ave. between F St. & G St.

* F St. between 7th Ave. & 8th Ave.

* G St. between 6th Ave. & 8th Ave.

Please use caution and follow detour routes. All businesses in the effected area will be open to the public. Construction will continue in various stages through 2008.

Linny Pacillo Parking Garage (7th & E)

Expect the following closures for construction of the new Linny Pacillo Parking Garage located at 7th Ave. & E St:

* A single northbound lane closure on E St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 8th Ave.

* A full westbound closure on W. 7th Ave. between E St. and F St.

Please follow appropriate detour routes and use caution.

Anchorage Market & Festival (W. 3rd Ave.)

Beginning Saturday, May 10th through Sunday, September 7th, expect lane closures and pedestrian crossings on W. 3rd Ave. between C St. and E St. each Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM through 6 PM for the Anchorage Market & Festival. Please drive with caution and watch for pedestrians.

Bragaw between Glenn Hwy. & Mountain View Dr.

Expect a full road closure on Bragaw St. between Glenn Hwy. and Mountain View Dr. for thte Glenn-Bragaw interchange construction activities. Pedestrian access will remain open. Business access for Red Apple and Player’s Bingo will remain open via Mountain View Dr. Please follow appropriate detour signs and use caution.
